Produced Christopher George Latore Wallace on May 21, 1972, he was also called The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls. He was a high school dropout who started dealing shot in the area, a venture he asserted as his only income source. His music career started as a rapper during his teen years. He’s recorded hip hop tracks on a tape that has been passed around and played at local radio stations in Nyc. With this, he became a principal figure in the East Coast Hip Hop arena. He also helped raise the city’s presence in the genre during that time when West Coast Hip Hop was dominant in the mainstream. Through his protg group, Junior M.A.F.I.A., Wallace has led his childhood buddies to attain success in the graphs. He also became more involved with the growing East Coast/West Coast hip hop feud while recording his second record. He met Tupac Shakur, an MC in the West Coast, which shortly he became buddies with despite the dispute later on in their professions. On March 9, 1997, Christopher Wallace was killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in La. Sixteen days after, his Life After Departure double-disc set was released and became No. 1 on the U.S. record graphs. In 2000, it was certified Diamond and is among the few hip hop records to receive such certification. Two more albums were released since his departure and he’s certified sales of 17 million units in the US.
